INTRODUCTION

I'm so happy to have you here! My name is Alexys Cellini and I am a newly minted educator, fresh out of the amazing Single Subject Teaching Credential Program, for English, at the University of California, Davis. As a secondary English Language Arts teacher I prioritize student choice and student voice in my classroom, while building rapport and relationships with each  student as an individual, so that I can leverage their Funds of Knowledge. As a person in general, I value compassion, coffee, patience, and FUN.

This teaching portfolio began as a place for highlighting my research and coursework at UC Davis, but it has grown over the course of my credential year to feature professional materials, ideas, and resources galore. It is my hope that this website will continue to evolve as I experience more triumphs and challenges within the teaching profession, and that it might be a place where other educators can gain creative, innovative ideas for their own teaching practices.

So come along on the adventure, as I begin my first year teaching full-time in August of 2022! I'll be working with 11th grade English, 11th grade English honors, and 6th grade technology at a magical charter school in Natomas, CA. I'll also be using the 2022-2023 school year to work on completing my Masters of Education at the University of California, Davis, looking into applications for active literacy strategies within my classroom.

Its going to be the adventure of a lifetime! Thanks for being along for the ride!

MASTERS PORTFOLIO

Please check out this exciting new addition to my website!

As I begin my teaching journey, I'll also be working towards obtaining my MA in Education from the University of California, Davis. My masters work will focus on using active literacy (or theater-based) strategies to deepen students understanding of inference and evolve their ability write analytically.
