JAMBOARD DIGITAL TOOL IMPLEMENTATION

Digital Whiteboards & Controlled Chaos

The main goal of this implementation project was to explore and evaluate the use of a digital tool for literacy development with secondary students. Within one of my student-teaching placements, where I worked with 6th graders, I decided to try and implement Jamboard as a formative assessment tool.

I initially introduced Jamboard in the form of a warm-up and then subsequently conducted a full lesson plan centered on the tool.

All in all, Jamboard is a fun, collaborative, and interactive tool that can have many applications within the ELA classroom. However, I would caution educators- especially of middle school students- to be aware that activities that utilize Jamboard need to be highly structured with clear expectations, so that the level of freedom Jamboard provides, doesn’t over take its potential for productivity.
