EXPLORING THE ROLE OF LITERATURE CIRCLES WITHIN THE ELA CLASSROOM
Inquiry Topic Project & Presentation
At the start of Fall Quarter 2021, I found myself wanting to know more about the practical application of Literature Circles in varying classroom contexts.
I wondered about the limitations of Literature Circles: where are they effective and where might they fall short? What potential challenges arise when structuring Literature Circles? I also found myself wondering how the successes of Literature Circles might be reflected in data. What studies have been done to show the extent of Literature Circles power in promoting community and furthering student ownership in the classroom?

These were my central questions as I began this inquiry project. The journal articles and sources I’ve gathered below attempt in different ways and from varying perspectives to answer these questions.
RELEVANT JOURNAL ARTICLES
I analyzed each of these sources in an annotated bibliography that focuses on the methodology of each study, the importance of the articles' findings, and the implications for my classroom practice.
