RESEARCH BASED GRAMMAR LESSONS

Exploring Relationality with Parts of Speech

This assignment was completed as a part of my graduate work at the University of California, Davis. The purpose was to apply understanding of best practices regarding grammar/mechanics/language study
in secondary ELA classrooms and to reflect on lesson implementation through data analysis.

The following report & presentation detail a three-part lesson series I designed for a class of 12th grade ELA students. My primary focus in these lessons was on having students play with the relational aspects of the parts of speech, in lieu of frontloading a lot of the technical aspects of parts of speech through direct instruction.

ANALYSIS & REFLECTION

Here you'll find a written description of the lesson series, my rationale and research, and a reflection on how the implementation of the lessons went.
